Fellowship

The Congregational Life Team of Highland Presbyterian Church is called to encourage and aid the participation of members of all ages in the life and ministry of the church through Fellowship.

When the church cares for its own members, we use the word "ministry." This is distinguished from our work in and with the world which is defined as mission. Some of the ways we "minister" to one another at Highland are through congregational care and regular fellowship activities, which can be found here. Mission opportunities can be found on the "Mission" page under "Serve and Give."

Below are descriptions of Fellowship events at HPC. Call the church office or send an e-mail to Christine Coy Fohr if  you would like any further information or want to become more involved.

Advent Potluck

Held on the first Sunday of Advent. This is an opportunity for members of the congregation and their families to spend time together preparing for the seasons of Advent and Christmas. We gather in the late afternoon for craft workshops, wassail, singing carols, and decorating the Fellowship Hall tree, followed by a covered-dish supper and a visit from Santa Claus – a good time for all!

Men's Breakfast/Fellowship

On Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. we gather in the HPC dining room.  The menu is coffee cake and coffee and no reservations are needed . This is a time for HPC men to be together in fellowship, support and prayer.

Presbyterian Women (September through April)

Circle No. 7 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm in Treyton Oak Towers for study and fellowship.

Wednesday Evening Supper/Fellowship/Programs (September through April)

On the fourth Wednesday of every month, the church will prepare dinner at a cost of $6.00 per adult and $3.00 per child. Reservations will be required by noon on the Tuesday before these meals. Special programs and activities will be offered most Wednesday nights. See the Headlines or Calendar on our website for featured activities. Every Wednesday, the Children's Music Ministry will meet with the Lyric Choir beginning at 6:15 and the Chapel Choir, Angel Choir, and Joyful Noise meeting from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. See "Music Ministry" on our website for a description of these four groups.

KNIT WITS

Meets the second Tuesday evening of the month in a member's home - fun connection while knitting or doing other needlework!

Women's Gathering

A group of women bonded by their common commitment to each other and to their spiritual search. They meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:15 p.m. in homes of members.

Holy Week Light Lunch

During Holy Week, after our prayer services in the sanctuary, participants gather in the dining room to break bread and enjoy soup together. This time is very helpful as we move through Holy Week and our darkest hours in preparation for the joy of Easter morning.

PresFest

Our annual block party/church celebration is held on the first Sunday after school starts for Jefferson County Public Schools. On this Sunday, after worship, we block off part of Highland Avenue, fire up the grills, sno-cone and popcorn machines, inflate a children's "Bounce," fill water balloons for the soaking booth (any volunteers on a hot day?), and a cake walk to live music. And if that's not enough, we invite the neighbors to celebrate our presence, church and community, together in the Highlands community!

These are just a few of the Fellowship opportunites that pop up throughout the year. Be sure to check our calendars. If you don't see something you enjoy doing, call us and let's make it happen!
