Adults


Guiding Principle: We are called as the Church of Jesus Christ to provide opportunities for adults to grow in wisdom, faith and love. Christian Formation and Education gives adults structure for learning, listening, discussing, and deliberating God's Word and historical and theological teachings. Adults gathering together opens doors for creating community, understanding the Bible, connecting faith and life, being encouraged in prayer, experiencing spiritual growth and transformation, and finding more avenues for sharing God's love through service and mission in the world.

Adults at Highland are involved in many other areas of church life.

Adult Sunday School

Meets 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. (year round) and is:

  • for Adults of all ages
  • for mixed groups not defined by typical adult categories like age groups, singles, parents, young couples
  • Led by teaching teams that allow for guided discussion

The following three classes gather each Sunday morningat 9:30, September through May:

COUPLES' CLASS
Meets in the Dining Hall of the Pleune-Mobley Center
This fall the class members are sharing devotionals and activities from the Gottman's suggestions.

  • Women's Gathering: 2nd Monday, 7:15 pm in a participant's home.
  • Men's Breakfast: Thursdays at 7am in the church Dining Room
  • Knit Wits: 4th Tuesday, 7:15 pm in member's homes.
  • Older Adult Fellowship: Thursday, 10:00 a.m. Bible study, Mickey Bizot Prayer Quilt Project, lunch at noon. Call the Church Office to make a reservation.
  • Wednesday Night Supper and Activities, 5:30 pm for supper; 6:30 for activities -- see the Study and Learn Wednesday Night Programs for gatherings like the Prayer Group and the Book Group.

  • Stephen Ministry – 2nd Tuesday at 7:15 pm in Conference Room 1
