Older Adults

"Everything on earth has its own time and its own season"
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Guiding Principle: The Congregational Life Team of Highland Presbyterian Church is called to encourage and facilitate members of all ages to participate in the life and ministry of the church through Older Adult Ministries (from the CLT's Mission Statement).

"The fastest growing segment of society are those 85 years of age and over...In PC(USA) congregations, for every worshiper under the age of 25, there are more than six worshipers over the age of 65...We are at a place in the history of the church that we have never been before-a special time, a special opportunity is before us to respond with excitement, energy and a new vision of the possibilities for ministry with, by and for the increasing numbers of older persons. If we allow this moment of opportunity to pass unnoticed, the whole church will be the losers -- older adults because of their needs not being met and their skills not being utilized; and younger people, because they lose the opportunity to learn from older persons and to help older persons to know how to live in this ever-changing technological world." (From OLDER ADULT MINISTRY MATTERS, A Case Statement (Revised 4/15/03), written by the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministry Network).
