Blueprint for the Future

Blueprint for the Future is Highland’s plan to honor our heritage, expand our mission, and serve God's people by updating and expanding our facilities and ministries to our members and to God's wider world. Our Blueprint was launched in conjunction with our 125th anniversary celebration. Richly blessed, we must step up to our responsibility to carry our faithful ministry forward for the next 125 years.

Extensive work already has been completed on the Walker-Nevin Building (our center for children’s education) and the parking lot. Our pipe organ, installed in 1966, is being renovated and expanded, and this work should be finished during the fall of 2008. Architects, engineers, and church members have spent countless hours planning the work to be done at the Pleune-Mobley Center. The Blueprint will make this circa 1920 building new for the new century! The second floor will be gutted and reconstructed with all new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC service to serve our vibrant youth program and mission partners, such as Buckhorn Children and Family Services and Kentucky Refugee Ministries. The building will be made accessible to all through an additional elevator and a new rear entrance, which also will allow convenient access from our parking lot. Space on the first floor will be reconfigured for adult education, community forums, and receptions.

This ambitious undertaking is an essential step for the expansion of our land-locked congregation, and it requires the participation of all members. We have raised over $2.3 million, and have contingent pledges for $1.15 million toward our $4.8 million goal. Together we must commit another $1.4 million to bring these plans to fruition so that Highland’s ministries can continue to make a positive difference in this neighborhood and throughout God’s good creation.
