Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come into God's presence with singing!
For the Lord is a gracious God,
Whose mercy is everlasting;
And whose faithfulness endures to all generations.
(Psalm 100:2, 5)
Worship is the song of the soul arising like fragrant incense to our Creator. Worship is the work of the people. It is the people's theater of the spirit. The audience is God. The actors are the congregation. The prompters are the clergy and choirs.
Worship is a drama in three acts: Gathering, Hearing the Word of God, and Responding to the Word of God.
Gathering: We hear news of the community. We prepare to worship with prayer and meditation. We are called to worship. We offer hymns of praise and prayers of confession. We hear words that assure us of God's love and mercy.
Hearing the Word of God: God speaks to us through anthems, Scripture readings, sermon, and sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion).
Responding to the Word of God: We respond with hymns of commitment, prayers of intercession, and the offering of our gifts. We conclude our worship with a hymn of faith and then we are sent out into the world with a charge and blessing.
Children are always welcome in worship, but for those who prefer it childcare is provided at all services. Please see the Christian Education page for more details.
