This Sunday

Please join us this Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 9:30 or 11:00 A.M. and hear Rev. Cynthia M. Campbell preach her sermon titled "Why Diversity Is a Biblical Value". Our 9:30 Liturgist this week is the Rev. Dr. J. Fred Holper, Professor of Preaching and Worship Emeritus, McCormick Theological Seminary. Our Readers are Carol Pye at 9:30  and the 2013 Confirmation Class at 11:00. The readings are from Genesis 11:1-9 and Acts 2:1-21.  All are invited to wear something red, the liturgical color of the day, to mark the day. At 11:00 a.m. we will receive the 2013 Confirmation Class.

A special thanks to the Chancel Choir Ensemble & Chancel Choir; Edward Caruthers, Melinda Odle, & Jan Ward for blessing us in worship with their musical leadership. We welcome Melinda Odle, Assistant Principal Violist of the Louisville Orchestra. She received her training at the University of Evansville and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A native Louisvillian, she performs regularly with ensembles in and around the city.

We offer Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 a.m. in the HPC Dining Room. Join us for our last Issues Class until the fall, this Sunday, May 19 for "The Year in Review".

You can listen to the Sunday sermon here on our website by going to 'Worship' tab at the top and then click on the 'Music' tab, then 'Sermons' or you can pick up a hard copy of recent sermons in the Fellowship Hall by the stairs.

There is designated wheelchair space inside the church with access from the Highland Ave. outside ramp or the Fellowship Hall for anyone who may need it. The area is located in the sixth row from the front, on the aisle of the baptismal font side. Ushers will direct you further if needed. We also offer gluten-free bread at communion.

Be sure to check out our online calendar at the right of this page for all activities happening today, this week and in the coming months, as we provide a full program for children, youth, young adults, and adults. Join us at Highland as we worship together in song and in prayer, on and through scripture and sermon.
